Shokunin is an upscale restaurant located in Vancouver, British Columbia. For the identity of this brand, I stuck with a very minimal color palette by only focusing only on black and white with red used as an accent for the logo type and subsequent physical materials including the top of the wine bottle, the chopsticks, and a matchbook that has custom red tips. Also used subtly is a blind embossing technique that can be seen on the front of the menu and also on the front of the matchbook.
Throughout the identity, I used an ancient Japanese paper marbling technique called sumanigashi that complimented the strict and subtle typography throughout the system and also broke the strict grid as well. Including creating stationary, packaging, and external signage, I also created an app that streamlined the entire process for reserving a table, learning more about the restaurant, and also being updated if the menu has any changes.
